Hi all, recently I have taken up Vocal lessons with Tino Live Music and it's a really fruitful one as I've learnt useful knowledge in which help improve my singing. Here's some sharing on my experience with my first ever music school.
With Jeremy (He doesn't like me and Alexia to call him 老师 - in English means Teacher. )
So I must make sure I don't add 老师 behind his name Haha...
First time meeting Jeremy and probably my ever first vocal lessons.
I always wanted to learn singing professionally. So which means I have never undergone proper singing coaching or lesson my entire life. And guess what I really love singing.
As most of my friends would know that I love to patron KBOX alot and once in a blue moon I do 15s Singstagram on Instagram : P.
Jeremy also introduced himself which I think it's really important for us to know who we are learning from. :) He also take the initiative to know more about us not only in terms of vocal but personally.
Most importantly the entire lesson makes us feel comfortable and is indeed a fun learning environment. I've learn how to warm up the proper way with different methods.
Learning how to pronounce those words in the lyrics accurately while singing isn't that easy at all. We were also taught ways to practice our 咬字 which is how we sing and pronounce those words. This is the fun part where our jaw and mouth had to open wide and ugly during practices. : P
Knowing where and how to use your diaphragm was also taught ! : D
Sometimes just knowing is not enough, I like the way Jeremy taught us step by step clearly with details and demonstrations.

We went into a deeper understanding of how to breath properly when singing using our diaphragm. The amount of air and controlling the amount of air use while singing. I know it's really hard to explain here. lol. But basically it's still breathing Technics which is really important during singing so that we won't get out of breathe or felt like you've suffocated yourself.
In a song, tune is really very important. We have heard people who went out of tune or went flat during a song/performance. So being able to listen to ourselves is really important so that we know when we go out of tune or went flat somewhere while singing. : P
Jeremy taught us about things like impression; impression of the song, which means listening to a song/tune and having that impression of it in our brain ringing.
Just like some people they can hear and then perform the song straight on a musical instrument etc.
So we learnt 4 different ways to practice this and also how we sing our song/lyrics to make it "not boring".
We called it 重音/轻音 - To make it simple, basically which mean words in the lyrics that should be emphasis on or less emphasis on to give it the feeling and emotion .
And that need tons of practice and guidance...
At the last lessons we were given a short test to see how much we have learn.
Jeremy pointed out some mistakes where we can improve on and I like how sincere he is helping us up vocally and just 4 lessons me & sister really learnt a lot and will continue to do so! :).
